“I Do It For You” was released in June 18, 1991 as a theme song for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and first single of Adams' sixth studio album Waking Up the Neighbours. The song became one of Adams' most known and successful songs. Despite the movie’s mixed reception (and of course, winning a Razzie Award for Worst Actor to Kevin Costner who played as Robin Hood), the song was an international smash hit, topping pop charts in several countries. “Everything” had a seven week run at #1 in the US, and an almost record-breaking sixteen weeks in the UK – preventing Extreme “More Than Words”, Right Said Fred “I’m Too Sexy” and Salt N Pepa “Let’s Talk About Sex” from reaching the top spot there.
