About

One of the earliest #1 hits of The Rolling Stones, “Get Off My Cloud” was released in November 1965 as a 7-inch single; in December of that year, it appeared on the Stones' fifth studio album, December’s Children (and Everybody’s). The song topped the charts in the U.S.A., the U.K. and Germany; it peaked at No. 2 in Ireland and Australia. A promotional performance video was also released in 1965, as shown here. In the 1960s, songs were often released in mono format, meaning the listener would not hear different instruments in two separate speakers. “Get Off My Cloud” was recorded in stereo but released in mono; there are rare versions of the song available in the original true stereo. The stereo version reveals a few elements of the song that were less audible in the mono version, including a 12-string guitar riff by Brian Jones that placed into the right channel on the stereo mix; and clearer backing vocals and hand claps from Mick Jagger. The stereo mix of this track is difficult to find on CD, apart from very early prints of their greatest hits LP Hot Rocks 1, but it can be found & played on youtube as well as other internet sites.
