About
Written by Paul McCartney, though credited to Lennon-McCartney, “Hello, Goodbye” is the A-side to “I Am the Walrus” and was released on 24 November 1967. The song discusses the concept of duality, and how everything has an opposite. McCartney said the following to Disc Magazine in the year of release: The answer to everything is simple. It’s a song about everything and nothing … If you have black you have to have white. That’s the amazing thing about life. The song was a success commercially. It topped the charts in many countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States. In an AllMusic Review by Richie Unterberger, he opined that “Hello, Goodbye”, similarly with songs like “Penny Lane” and “All You Need Is Love”, were all “huge, glorious, and innovative singles”.
