About

This is the radio-friendly version of Akon’s “I Wanna Fuck You” featuring veteran Cali rapper Snoop Dogg. Originally, Snoop’s verses were done by Florida rapper Plies, but Plies had just been arrested for an incident at one of his concerts (his entourage fired shots into the crowd upon hearing that his set would be cut short by 15 minutes). Akon was skirting bad publicity when he decided to tap Snoop Dogg for the record instead. Akon told VH1: Snoop is like everybody’s uncle, I mean literally, you know what I mean? That record was one of the funnest that I’ve ever recorded…I get into the studio and I had to find my way, you know what I mean? It was smokey…He got in the booth, lit up a joint. Thirty minutes later, his verses was done. The song became the commercial success he’d hoped for, becoming his first #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit (and Snoop’s second). Plies recovered from the coup after he was replaced and the song became a major hit, and worked with Akon on his single “Hypnotized.” He told MTV: In no way is there a problem amongst me and another party. Akon and I had the luxury of collaborating on my album. It’s a real, real big record called ’Hypnotized’. That ’I Wanna Love You’ record was a big record for him, and I take my hat off to him and Snoop and congratulate them.
