In 1990, Touchstone Pictures approached Roxette and their record label about contributing a song to the Julia Roberts film “Pretty Woman” and “It Must Have Been Love” was featured on the film’s soundtrack. The song became a number-one hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in June of 1990, becoming their third number-one hit in the United States. It also topped the charts in countries such as Australia, Switzerland, Norway & Poland. “It Must Have Been Love” was certified Gold and in 2005, Per Gessle received an award from BMI after the song’s four millionth play on the radio.
