“Lady” is a song from Kenny Rogers' 1980 Greatest Hits compilation album. It was written & produced by Lionel Richie. The song topped the Hot 100, Hot Country Singles and Adult Contemporary charts in the US in late 1980. It was also a top 30 hit in New Zealand, Belgium, The Netherlands and the UK. In fact, the song was so successful that Richie has said, “I have an estate that ‘Lady’ bought”. Originally he wanted the song for himself, but his lawyer set him straight, telling him, “If you give it to Kenny, it will be bigger than you ever thought”. He was right!
