The song originally appeared on Neil Sedaka’s 1973 album The Tra-La Days Are Over. Captain & Tennille recorded it at the suggestion of A&M Records A&R man Kip Cohen. Their version topped the Billboard Hot 100 and Easy Listening chart in June 1975. It also topped the charts in Canada. Billboard named “Love Will Keep Us Together” the biggest song of 1975 in the US and it won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1976.
