A political Maroon 5 song, “Makes Me Wonder” hit #1 in the US during its release. At the time, it held the record for biggest jump to #1 (from 64th) on the Billboard Hot 100. Maroon 5 also took home a Grammy in 2008 for this song as the Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The lyrics have a double meaning: superficially, they are about a break-up, like many Maroon 5 songs. Adam Levine stated, however, that they were also to express his dissatisfaction at American politics around the time of its release.
