“Moves Like Jagger” was first performed on an episode of The Voice, a singing competition which Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera both judge. It peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Adam Levine and co’s second number one (after “Makes Me Wonder”). The title references Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who said that the song was “very flattering”. Levine told NPR: “Only Jagger has the moves like Jagger. That being said, if there was ever someone to aspire to … I don’t think anyone could claim to have the moves like James Brown, or the moves like Michael Jackson, or the moves like Prince. There’s something about the way Jagger moves that is uniquely his own and hard to imitate, but also accessible and silly and fun, and not taking itself too seriously.
