About
“Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” is a song co-written by Albert Hammond and Diane Warren, recorded by the American rock band Starship in 1986. It is a power ballad duet featuring Starship vocalists Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas. It is the soundtrack of the romantic comedy movie, Mannequin along with a themed music video. Also, it was released as a track on the album No Protection by Starship in July 1987. The song was also featured in the drama-comedy movie The Skeleton Twins in 2014. The song peaked number one in the Billboard Hot 100 on April 4, 1987, and reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart for four weeks the following month, and became the UK’s second-biggest-selling single of 1987. The song also reached the top 10 in six European countries. It became the first number-one single by songwriter Diane Warren{https://genius.com/artists/Diane-warren). At the time, it made the 47-year-old Grace Slick the oldest woman to have a number-one single in the United States, surpassed only by Cher, who was 52 when her song “Believe” reached number one in early 1999. The song received an Academy Award nomination for “Best Original Song” at the 60th Academy Awards.
