About

“Save the Best for Last” wasn’t specifically written for Vanessa Williams; there were other singers who were offered the song and they all turned it down. As Vanessa was recording “The Comfort Zone” album at the last minute, a song had to be replaced & “Save the Best for Last” was played for her. Vanessa said: “I can’t believe nobody wants this song. I have to have this song.” “Save the Best for Last” became a hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100, R&B chart and Adult Contemporary chart in 1992. It also topped the charts in Australia & Canada. The song was named “Song of the Year” by the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) and nominated for two Grammys: “Song of the Year” & “Record of the Year.”
