About
“Someone Like You” is the second single off of Adele’s sophomore album, 21. The track was inspired by the broken relationship that inspired most of 21. As the closing track of the album, lyrically, it speaks of Adele coming to terms with it. She wrote it with Dan Wilson. The single is one of Adele’s most commercially successful singles. It became Adele’s first number-one single in the UK and second in the USA. As of 2015, it is the third most downloaded single of all time in the UK and the fourth best-selling single of the 21st century. Fun fact: This was the first pure-piano ballad to ever top the Billboard Hot 100. At the time of “Someone Like You’s” ascension, there were 1,008! The second was Bruno Mars' “When I Was Your Man.” The song won the first ever Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance, at the 54th Grammy Awards in 2012.
