“Take My Breath Away” is a song by American new-wave band Berlin written and produced by Giorgio Moroder for the film Top Gun and helped the soundtrack become not only the best selling of 1986, but eventually one of the best selling of all time. Upon its release, the song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. It also topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S. and also topped charts in Canada, the U.K, the Netherlands, Ireland and Belgium. Over the years it became Berlin’s signature song and has been covered many times. Jessica Simpson’s version is perhaps the most well known cover.
