“Teenage Dream” was released as the second single from Perry’s studio album of the same name. The song became Perry’s second number one Hot 100 single from the album, following the number one peak of the previous single, “California Girls”. While discussing “Teenage Dream,” Katy said that the song is about recapturing the dizzying, thrilling feeling of first love. When you’re growing up and you’re falling in love for the first time, it’s such an amazing feeling that sometimes you can’t recycle again later on in your life. For me, being in love again now, it’s kind of the same feeling.
