About
On a slow-tempo ballad R&B, “Weak” is about the experience of falling deeply in love to the extent that it becomes a physical and emotional overwhelm. It serves as the third single released from SWV’s debut album It’s About Time, and is arguably the most famous song of their career. The song was written by Brian Alexander Morgan and was based on his feelings towards R&B singer Chanté Moore. It was originally written for Charlie Wilson, but Morgan later decided to give the song to SWV. Morgan stated that SWV member Coko disliked the song and was confrontational during the recording of the single, according to his interview with Rolling Stone in 2014: I got chills when I heard Coko’s voice, … I had written this song love song ‘Weak’ for Charlie Wilson, but I gave it to them. Coko was real cold to me at first and not very nice. She didn’t like the song and gave me real attitude when we recorded it. The song topped at #1 on both the Billboard’s Hot 100 & R&B Singles charts for two weeks.
