Recorded in 1987, “Wild Wild West” is a fun romp about sex in the era of changing political tensions in the shadow of nuclear war. The song was Escape Club’s only hit in America, but curiously it didn’t chart in the band’s native UK – in fact, the band never had a song chart there at all. Stateside, however, “Wild Wild West” topped the Billboard Hot 100 on November 12th, 1988, making Escape Club the only British artist to hit #1 in America without charting in their home country.
