About

“Woman In Love” is the first single from Barbra Streisand’s most successful album Guilty. It was an international smash, reaching #1 in twelve countries, including the UK, where it was her first chart-topper, and the US where it is her fifth (and final) chart-topper. Her two previous US #1’s were duets, so CBS Records insisted this song be released before “Guilty” and “What Kind Of Fool” (as those are both duets with songwriter Barry Gibb). Gibb’s backing vocals, however, are still featured prominently in this track. This song later served as inspiration for Britney’s “Oops I Did It Again.” No, really!: Every song written by Britney’s writer and producer Max Martin has a strong melody line, so a listener will know the song in seconds. It can be purely original or a riff on another song. For example, ‘Oops! … I Did It Again’ echoes Barbra Streisand’s ‘Woman in Love’.
