The 1939 Pittsburgh Panthers football team represented the University of Pittsburgh as an independent during the 1939 college football season. Led by first-year head coach Charley Bowser, the Panthers compiled a record of 5–4. Pittsburgh was not ranked in the final AP poll, but it was ranked at No. 24 in the 1939 Williamson System ratings, and at No. 35 in the final Litkenhous Ratings for 1939.
