The Sun enters Aquarius (the Water-Bearer, a air sign) on January 20, 1909 at 16:10 UTC — ecliptic longitude 300°. These are the signs of the tropical zodiac, measured from the March equinox. Precession has moved them about one constellation since they were named: the Sun is in front of Capricorn for much of Aquarius.
