The Sun enters Capricorn (the Goat, a earth sign) on December 22, 1927 at 20:19 UTC — ecliptic longitude 270°. These are the signs of the tropical zodiac, measured from the March equinox. Precession has moved them about one constellation since they were named: the Sun is in front of Sagittarius for much of Capricorn.
