The Sun enters Sagittarius (the Archer, a fire sign) on November 23, 1911 at 09:57 UTC — ecliptic longitude 240°. These are the signs of the tropical zodiac, measured from the March equinox. Precession has moved them about one constellation since they were named: the Sun is in front of Scorpio for much of Sagittarius.
