The Sun enters Virgo (the Maiden, a earth sign) on August 23, 1901 at 21:03 UTC — ecliptic longitude 150°. These are the signs of the tropical zodiac, measured from the March equinox. Precession has moved them about one constellation since they were named: the Sun is in front of Leo for much of Virgo.
